Please join us for your quarterly Poetry Society of NH Member Meeting this Saturday morning, October 31, at 10:00 AM on Zoom. People interested in becoming members can also attend. Feel free to contact Jimmy Pappas at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Committees will be reporting to the group on all of the work they have been doing. Members are encouraged to ask questions, express concerns, volunteer to help out. The Poetry Society is an all-volunteer group. Volunteerism is at the heart of its success. We need your skills in some way you can be assured.
There will be an open mic and some surprises. Please have your poems available to screen share. You can send copies of your poems on a pdf to Jimmy if you do not know how to share on the screen. Depending on the number of participants, each person will have time to read at least one poem, maybe more!
After the meeting and festivities are over, there will be a free workshop on writing haikus for all members who are interested. This will be just in time to submit your haiku to the journal Pulse: Voices from the Heart of Medicine. It is one of the top journals in the country for medical related poetry. The deadline to submit is the same day, Saturday, October 31. Join us to get a free critique of your work and write some haiku with us before submitting. Bring in the haikus you have already written to get them workshopped. Have them ready to screen share if possible.
Here is a link to the journal. Check it out for samples. It has more links near the bottom of the page in blue:
Please contact Jimmy if you are interested in attending this free workshop.
The editor who selects the haiku, Neal Whitman, will also be a guest speaker at our Down Cellar Poets meeting on Sunday, December 6, at 1:00. A great opportunity.
Many good reasons to keep up with your membership. We hope to see and talk to you Saturday.
